Understanding the Difference Between Hadith and Sunnah:

The words Hadith and Sunnah have distinct meanings and are used differently in Shariah (Islamic law):

  • Hadith refers to the narration of sayings, actions, or approvals of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whether they are authenticated or still under discussion. It can refer to both Sahih (authentic) and Da’if (weak) narrations.
  • Sunnah, on the other hand, is the habitual practice or the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Everything the Prophet did in his life, from his actions to his approvals, is part of the Sunnah.

The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forms the core structure of Islam, guiding Muslims on how to live righteous and fulfilling lives according to the will of Allah Almighty.
